Биография
The music made by METZ, Alex Edkins (guitar & vocals), Hayden Menzies (drums), & Chris Slorach (bass) has always been difficult to pin down. Their earliest recordings contained nods to the teeming energy of early ‘90s DIY hardcore, the aggravated angularities of This Heat, and the noisy riffing of AmRep’s quintessential guitar manglers, but there was never a moment where METZ sounded like they were paying tribute to the heroes of their youth. The sonic trajectory of their albums captures the journey of a band shedding influences and digging deeper into their fundamental core—steady propulsive drums, chest-thumping bass lines, bloody-fingered riffs, and the howling angst of fading innocence. In 2020 METZ released their fourth studio LP, Atlas Vending, and 2021 saw them bring a raw and powerful live performance of the album via Live at the Opera House. 2022 has seen the release of three powerful singles including “Demolition Row” featured on a split with Adulkt Life, and “Come On Down” which features Joe Talbot of IDLES. October 2022 marks ten years of their self-titled debut album and to celebrate they have released a Deluxe Edition of the record featuring three tracks recorded in a BBC Maida Vale session at 2013.
