Биография

Mars Baby is a singer-songwriter & producer from Cape Town, South Africa. Mars relocated to the USA with his family at a young age, where he was exposed to many of his musical influences, including blues, punk, musical theatre & choral music. He also developed a love for hip-hop which would later influence his work as a producer. At age 16, Mars moved back to Cape Town, where he continued his musical education, transitioning to jazz guitar & vocals. He played in a number of jazz & fusion bands, honing his own unique style along the way. Mars moved to Johannesburg in 2020 where he signed to Stay Low, releasing Prodigal Son later that year, followed by his genre-bending debut EP Salem in 2021. His latest EP, Echoes, is a tonal shift for Mars, stripping away much of his signature production & doubling down on his minimal aesthetic. He writes on past experiences of love & loss, paying homage to the blues & soul music that influenced him growing up.
