Биография
Bristol-based quintet the Bronze Medal formed in 2009 following a six-week backpacking trip through Europe -- which vocalists Chris Hillier and Robin Southwell funded by busking while they traveled -- and together they combined influences from the National, Radiohead and the War on Drugs to set the tone for their slow-burning indie rock. Much like their patient approach to their sound, they were equally patient about the opportunity to release music, and added Rory O'Gorman, Daniel Rogers, and Mike Barnett to complete the lineup. They started out playing small local shows, and then venues across the U.K. before they were eventually offered slots at festivals 2000 Trees and the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading. In 2012 a self-titled EP appeared, and their beautiful, atmospheric songs caught the ear of New Music Club, who subsequently signed them. Their debut was a long time in the making, and the band worked dutifully on each song before heading to Iceland, where they recorded the album with producer Valgeir Sigurðsson (Brian Eno, Sigur Rós, Feist) at Greenhouse Studios. Titled Darlings, the record appeared in 2014. ~ Scott Kerr, Rovi
