Биография
Formed in Brisbane, Australia in early 2011, this pop-infused indie rock quartet was influenced by both the Strokes and Arctic Monkeys, with lead vocalist Dominic Haddad aping the laid-back wit of Alex Turner. Bass player Campbell Smith and guitarist Ted Tilbrook had played in bands together since 2008 before they teamed up with Haddad and drummer James Wright to complete the Millions lineup. Although their debut EP, Nine Lives, Six Degrees, wasn't issued until July 2012, three of its tracks -- "Those Girls," "Guru," and "Slow Burner" -- had been released digitally from May 2011 onward. A combination of Australian radio play and national tours with the likes of fellow Brisbane act Last Dinosaurs and Melbourne's Oh Mercy helped to raise their profile. Recording sessions with Northeast Party House's Malcolm Besley led to a second EP, Cruel, in November 2012, which was mixed by Gordon Raphael, who had previously worked with band favorite the Strokes. After Millions worked on material for their debut album and tested it on the road, the guitar-textured, more refined Max Relax -- produced by Tilbrook's father, Squeeze legend Glenn Tilbrook, at his 45RPM Studios in Greenwich, England -- was released in 2014. ~ James Wilkinson, Rovi
