Hailing from North London, Imani was raised on music, the daughter of a jazz saxophonist. A play-by-ear pianist and songwriter, she grew up on a diet of jazz, soul and gospel - from Aretha Franklin to Miles Davis; Erykah Badu to Norah Jones; Nina Simone to Eva Cassidy to Mary Mary. Her distinctive harmonies and truth-filled lyrics wrap listeners in a rich sense of God’s love. She believes that if the music is good, people of all backgrounds will consider its message of hope.
