IG @NinoAugustine I create songs across Afro-diasporic genres. I was born in Panama City, Panama, in the largest district in the city - San Miguelito. I was raised by a super woman, my best friend to this day. All I knew about my father was that he was a professional boxer, so as a kid, all I ever wanted to do was fight. So after fighting all the kids in the neighborhood by nine, my mom figured she was better off getting me out. Eventually we’d end up in Atlanta, GA, where I fell in love with songwriting. I started studying the greats, I became obsessed with musician’s stories and the way they put songs together. I started recording my own songs at 12, some in Spanish, some in English, any and all the genres I loved: rap, dancehall, reggaeton, trap, R&B - the beginning shape of what I do today. Since then, I’ve written songs for some of my favorite artists, landed syncs on TV shows, and performed at places that little Nino could have only dreamed of. I’ve been covered by major publications, and last year had the honor of having my album Global Ninz being named the 25th best Spanish/Bilingual Album of 2021. I’m proud of it because we’ve done it all while being independent, with the help of some amazing friends and family like yourself. So welcome, and thank you for joining me on this journey.
