Crafting manically catchy tunes with a deceptive air of simplicity, Jakarta-based music project, Takaotubo, has been actively releasing music masterminded by its creator, Adolf Bernardinus , since 2017. Drawing from personal stories and emotive memories, this one-man numerously allied project does not shy away from breaking genre barriers and nonchalantly bending styles to its will. Evident from early releases such as endless, possibilities. and Research and Development, which meticulously infuse folk-style lyricism and electronic-influenced instrumentation, progressing towards the more painstaking self-titled (Takaotubo) album which deepens the emotional load on each track without losing any beat of keen pop sensibilities. The latest album, The derivation of everything. , continues this path towards musical maturity and expansion ranging from 2010’s-style alternative rock to eloquently grandiose ballads. Genres and labels seemingly could never restrict whatever output Takaotubo has. Showing a character that is carefully firm yet willingly playful. Not a prophet. Not prominent historical figure. But a friend.
