Биография
FKOS’s debut album has been described as “one of the best Irish rock records of the decade pulsating with the swaggering self-loathing of alternative rock acts such as Pavement, Nada Surf and Pixies, and lyrics which bleed the heartbreak and ache of unrequited love”. Working in New York with Fugazi producer Ted Niceley and Eli Janney from Girls Against Boys ensured that the album had an authentic DIY hard-core sound, one that suited both the frenzied and sedate sides of FKOS in equal measure. FKOS started out in 2000 as Joey Wilson, Anton Hegarty and Bryan McMahon. Playing their first real show opening for J Mascis & the Fog, they were quickly signed to Red Flag (London). In 2003, they were joined by Karl Hussey and signed deals with Aozora (Japan) and Collision (Australia). Tours with Muse and Biffy Clyro followed and the band played shows across Europe, America and Japan. Nearly four years on from their debut, FKOS provided a masterclass in the theory that time away can be time best spent. The band released their second album ‘Nervousystem’ in 2007 on What’s The Kim? Recordings. Produced by Ian Grimble (The Fall / Manic Street Preachers) and mixed by Joe Chester, Nervousystem was hailed for its startling jump in songwriting depth and confidence. It hasn’t been all quite for FKOS. Joey, Anton and Bryan have been active with a lazarus soul. Karl and Bryan are two thirds of Badself, releasing a record with Def Leppard producer Ronan McHugh.
