When AU8UST (born August Hausman) isn't exploring a serene mountaintop, clocking hours at the beach or gazing at the limitless night sky from in front of a campfire, he can be found weaving the inherently poetic elements of nature into his music, providing a fitting soundtrack to the very wonders of the world in all its frantic madness and calming curiosities. With a focus on creating soundscapes that are as textured as they are emotive, the soulful singer/songwriter, producer and designer expertly captures the in-between moments that inspire both stillness and introspection, allowing listeners the opportunity to get lost in the mysterious quality his music holds and discover what speaks to their own individualities at the same time. First discovering a passion for the drums at age 8, a number that holds deep personal value and inspired the stylization of his moniker, AU8UST went on to explore his multifaceted talents, building upon the rich foundation of music found in his mother's vinyl collection and later attending a small private art school founded by Krishnamurti for majority of his formal education. Growing up in an open-minded, supportive home in Ojai, California, encouraged him to record his first song at age eleven and first manifest his own career in music after his father took him to a War concert, an eye-opening experience where he was pulled up on stage and befriended the drummer, immediately convinced this was the path he was destined to follow. From an early age, AU8UST bore witness to the transformative power behind music firsthand, noting a particular memorable instance during a post 9/11 candlelit vigil that marked the first time he saw and felt how music holds the ability to transform the negatives into positives, a phenomenon that to this day influences him as a creative and is a responsibility he holds in high regard. Throughout the past two decades, with a steadfast desire to create in order to inspire others to do what makes them happy, AU8UST has dedicated his life to further developing his free-spirited artistry from all angles. From mastering playing the guitar and piano to learning the drums under the mentorship of Tom Petty's drummer Randal Marsh, he soon went on to concentrate on other integral aspects of his work, including establishing his own branding, filming, directing and editing his own visuals, and lending his talents to a variety of clients in music, film and design. After first releasing an initial acoustic EP, Open Road, in 2009, AU8UST happily spent the next eight years honing his craft, building his network and traveling the world (with an impressive 20 countries already under his belt before the age of 30), with each respective adventure helping lead to the next chapter of his career, with themes of transition and self-realization often reflected in his music itself. In addition to working tirelessly and tactfully to establish his own career, AU8UST’s accolades in music include recording the Living Legends and Luckyjam, collaborating with world-renowned DJ Kayzo and DJ Gammer, and seeing where his hunger to advance his career takes him next. Following the release of 2016's Disco Nap EP, AU8UST experienced his first taste of success as a solo artist, garnering over 4.6 million plays on Spotify worldwide and opening his own eyes wider to the universal language behind self-expression through art, film and music. As he consciously crafts his eclectic sound, drawing influence from a wealthy array of artists including Neil Young, Daft Punk, Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, Dallas Green and Disclosure, AU8UST's sound and vision exists beyond the confines of one genre, with traces of pop, hip-hop, dance, trap and R&B all shining through. Both a jack-of-all-trades and a lifelong student, AU8UST finds solace in the fact that life is a journey, using his time wisely with the genuine intention to live a lifestyle that inspires others to above all, love and trust themselves, with an emphasis on the importance of mindfulness, breaking ones routine and taking risks. While AU8UST readies his highly anticipated reintroduction through his first formal release alongside producer Arnold M.O.D., each chapter of his life doubles as a reminder of how far he's traveled and how far he's yet to go.
