Formed in Barcelona in 2021, the year of the 25th anniversary of Los Fresones Rebeldes hit Al Amanecer, 'Amor Propio' is a pop band that believes in creating pop justice through their music. Comprising Alícia Maluquer (Cola Jet Set) on keys and vocals, Caridad González on bass and vocals, Joan Pernil on drums, and Albert Gil (Brighton 64) on guitar and vocals, the group draws influences from Mod to indie pop with a touch of punk. Amor Propio's music is a manifesto of self-love, love for others and, personal expression. According to Felipe Espada from Los Fresones Rebeldes, "Amor Propio has a dozen varied hits that can be taken as bits of a hit parade or all at once like the Sgt. Pepper's. All good, all different: a reputable producer, two golden voices, three individual or mixed composers, four capable instrumentalists, and five or more themes (love, resistance, pop, life, science...) with 7+7 sing-along songs that have a bit of you and me. You'll like it and when it's over, you'll want to listen to it again. Their debut single was just the tip of the iceberg. Move over, Titanic!" Discos Sélak released Amor Propio's EP in 2022, followed by a second two-track single later that year, which immediately caught the attention of the record label, Hurrah! Música. The label will release the EP in vinyl format soon. With their infectious Pop tunes, 'Amor Propio' is quickly becoming a band to watch in the Spanish pop scene.
