Hi, I’m Kathleen. I’ve made some recorded noise so far in my life. Some has been featured on MTV, VH1, NBC, KCRW, CurrenTV & in award-winning films. Some has been made with Grammy-award winning producers, at fancy studios, with casts of musicians who play with Katy Perry, Shakira & Sara Bareilles. Some has been made on a phone in the middle of the desert in Nevada. I’ve toured the US & sung in empty cafés, people’s backyards & sold-out music venues. My new record is called Medicine. I left Los Angeles after 13 years & retreated to the woods of New Mexico so I could hear my own voice & make a record all by myself. I made fires in the woodstove, bought microphones, figured out how to make sounds I like, & sometimes brought my friends in to play guitar solos. The first single (“Carpe Diem”) was released in October 2019 along with a music video that I dreamed up & produced with some brilliant people. The rest is coming soon. Medicine is its own being, & she hasn’t told me everything yet. I say Medicine sounds like if Bon Iver, Regina Spektor and Cat Stevens had a musical baby with a choir of angels. A good friend told me it was like a chandelier & a campfire in the woods. It’s more stripped down than my other projects—acoustic guitar, electric guitar, ambient sounds, lots of stacked vocals.
