Calhoun, the Carson, CA native was brought up by his 1st generation Filipina mother, his father hailing from West Athens Los Angeles & his iPod which had music from various eras & genres. In his youth, Dwae was heavily influenced by artists such as Drake, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, & Kanye West and at 14, he began rapping, uploading songs on SoundCloud, & engineered for himself & his friends. He would later hoop at the collegiate level which lead him on a journey to play ball in the Philippines but instead of committing to a university or going pro in his mother homeland, he ultimately committed to music.
