There were two bands named Torture Garden. (1) Originating in Merseyside, United Kingdom, Torture Garden were formed in 2006 by lyricist and vocalist Adam Ford (born 21st July 1981) and his multi-instrumentalist brother Matt Ford (born 4th November 1985), taking their name from a novel by Octave Mirbeau. Torture Garden claimed to be influenced by all variations of heavy metal, as well as dark, experimental artists from various other genres. In 2007, the band released their first demo - Rotisserie Of Pain - as a free download. 2008 saw the additions of Pete Lovering (bass), Dmitrij ‘Daemon’ Golovin (Requiem Aeternum, rhythm guitar) and Danny ‘SarkoFag’ (drums) to the lineup, however Dmitrij and Danny had to leave the band due to extreme political differences. In August of 2011, the band released their first full length album, Dead Romantic, on CD, and they subsequently released their follow up, The Great Depression. (2) Torture Garden was a band led by John Zorn. As "the japanese side of Naked City" they played the more hardcore oriented short songs by Naked City. They never recorded a studio album.
