Canongate are a (now four!)-piece band from Edinburgh, Scotland. looking to take over the earth using strange guitar sounds and a man of business 'Leon Morris' They have just released their fourth single, Glad I'm Free, further confusing their audience about what genre of music Canongate songs are. Although described loosely as an 'Alt Indie' band, Canongate's experimental edge has them pushing the envelope and writing many different types of music between, and even within, their songs. The band was established in 2016 between two friends, guitarist Dylan and drummer Leon, and has now grown in to a lively and promising 4 piece with quite the buzz around the Edinburgh music scene, a buzz which has started spreading further afield; They have recently featured on BBC Introducing radio in the UK and, in their first year of gigging, Canongate has seen great reception in such venues as King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow, Sneaky Pete's in Edinburgh and their own homemade headline in a studio, which they put on independently and which received a very warm response. With a 'backlog' of entire albums of original material and huge aspirations, Canongate fans are hugely eager to see where the band goes next.
