Brianne Bryant, known as Lady Bri, grew up in Cleveland singing along to Whitney Houston, whose music and uplifting persona taught her how to find comfort and confidence in standing alone. Standing alone, defying the odds, and self-empowerment are all prevalent narratives on Lady Bri’s debut self-titled album. Her positivity flourishes throughout the tracks, creating a familial essence. She’s your sister, your aunt, your best friend. Fat horns, handclaps, and dance-able bass lines provide foot-stomping energy as Bri lays down her energetic flow and soaring vocals on top of it all. The finished product is an album finessed with fine production detail and a wide range of styles that gives birth to a new force in funk, pop, and soul.
