"Your favourite boyband." Alright pals ;] David, Dom, Harrison, Henry and Tim here. Ogre Melodies is our folk rock'n'roll band, born out of a need to make music with each other expediently; with whatever tools we have to hand. We started this band way back in 2012 with plastic ukuleles, pots and pans and a pride in the expediency and portability of being an acoustic band with no electronics whatsoever. The lack of amplification encouraged us all to be singers (so people could hear vocals), and so your favourite boyband was born. We were influenced and inspired by buskers and artists such as Holy Moly & The Crackers, The Buffalo Skinners, Rail Yard Ghosts, GIVERS, and Tall Ships, as well as classic 1960s titans, inc. Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, The Mamas & The Papas, and The Beach Boys. After stints in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Manchester, York, and Leeds, we moved down to live with each other in a house in Shepherd’s Bush, London. We proper fell in love with busking, especially at Notting Hill’s Portobello Market as well as around the rest of the UK, in Bath, Edinburgh, Oxford, Brighton, and Leeds. These days we’re using the power of the internet to make music remotely. We’re excited to share our new songs with you. First Friday of every month for the foreseeable, get here!
