A journeyman musician with a versatile, dynamic and genre-bending approach to improvised music, Gary Husband is also one of a rare breed of instrumental performers in that his expression is divided equally in his capacity as a drummer and a keyboardist of international repute. His classical roots, his development in the jazz and jazz/fusion areas - not to mention his tenure in the rock, pop, funk and blues circuits - are all evident inside Husband’s distinct musical personality. His solo projects also reinforce his status as a critically-acclaimed writer and arranger in the contemporary music world. Known (as a drummer) for the extraordinary musical association he shared with the late guitarist Allan Holdsworth for well over three decades, Husband has also been featured (majorly as a keyboardist) with the legendary guitarist John McLaughlin since 2004, and since 1992 in band lineups led by drummer Billy Cobham.
