Have you heard of the “Church of the Smothered Sun of Latter-Day Shred”? With the drive to incorporate the eerie wall of sound in Black Metal with the visceral rawness of Post Hardcore and Technical/Melodic Death Metal. Smothered Sun seeks out to experiment with sound that is inspired from these many wings of music. Brandishing their best Sunday outfits, they seek to create a feeling of not your everyday religion. With fast guitar picking and sudden breakdowns this ensemble proves quickly that it isn't any other Sunday night mass. Hailing from Central to Southern Maine, Smothered Sun is formed of members from other groups such as, Last Chance To Reason, Toxic Cross, and Hatred Alive, Smothered Sun has high intent on being a band that is solely trying to pull away from everyday life with lyrics of oppression through work and media to performing a sacrifice and completely missing the mark. They try to show you what hell can actually be like on Earth with a smile. Releasing a self-titled EP and the strive to play most packed New England venues, Smothered Sun wants to bring the ruckus but also warm the room with the feeling of being in a family that was your choice and prove this music community is a sort religion and that it doesn't have to be about anything but being there shredding through life.
