Биография
ARIAN is a pop band formed by Ali Pahlavan and Payam Salehi in Iran in the late 1990s, following the Islamic revolution in 1979 which made it illegal to own or play pop music. The band consisted of male and female vocalists, guitarists, violinist, keyboardist, percussionists, drummer and bassist. Despite facing difficulties in acquiring approval for their songs and lyrics, the band eventually received permission to perform live. Their first concert was held on Qeshm Island in 1999, and they were signed by Taraneh Sharghi Co. to release their debut album in 2000, making them the first mixed-gender pop band in Iran to receive official approval. They released two more albums, and performed concerts in various Iranian cities, as well as in the Europe, the US and Canada. They were nominated for a B.B.C. Radio 3 award for their third album and were included in the 2006 edition of International Who's Who (Popular Music). In 2008, they released an album featuring a collaboration with Irish vocalist Chris de Burgh. As a result of the government’s increased restrictions on the music industry, the band’s fifth album was not permitted to be released for two years, and several of its members left Iran for other countries. After two years, the fifth album obtained approval from the new administration, and the band members published it under the title “Goodbye.” With this album, the ARIAN band said goodbye to their fans for good.
