Jonnycatland came to life in the summer of 2016, when a local battle of the bands victory landed them recording time. With this prize came the 4 song EP, titled “Warm Soup”. A jazzy, pop oriented debut album generated a shallow buzz on bandcamp with tracks like “Living Clean”, and the following summer saw 2017’s “All Good Friends”. The group’s first full length LP saw a stride away from their EP’s sound, in favor of a garage rock oriented sound. The album balanced indulgence with catchy pop melodies and songs. 
 “A Perfect Nothing” is Jonnycatland’s most ambitious release to date. Another 12 song LP, the group hones in on themes of future anxieties, melancholic nostalgia, and emotional stress. Thematically divided into the four seasons, each triplet of songs hint at seasonal themes, in both lyrics and melody. The album features their most thought through production as well, at times reminiscent of dream pop and lofi garage rock. 
 The young Chicago group blends jazzy pop melodies, garage rock, and emotionally indulgent lyrics with equally indulgent songwriting and themes.
