Биография
Defiler is the brainchild of a somewhat notorious, once scrawny, Superman-hat-wearing vocal powerhouse Jake Shaw. He began plugging into his local music scene at the age of 13, starting off as drummer - with no idea that he had a voice that would soon stand alone amongst the metal community. He eventually decided, at age 16, to create his own musical outfit. Not as a drummer, but as a singer and songwriter. He took the DIY approach, and decided to self fund and record his own album. Soon after, his first song went viral overnight, with now over 3.5 million views on YouTube. To date the band has over 5 million views online, and two critically acclaimed records. This newfound, completely unexpected fame launched Defiler into a whirlwind of amazing opportunities for a group so young. Doors quickly opened and the group soon embarked on a Russian tour - the longest tour that any American band has done in that region to date. Immediately following their US run with Emmure and Born of Osiris, the band played Australia’s colossal Soundwave Festival. They played alongside Alice in Chains, A Day to Remember, Korn, and myriad more. Soon after, the band embarked on a two week tour of Japan, opening for local hardcore legends Aggressive Dogs. From drumming local gigs at 13 to playing Sydney’s Olympic Stadium a few years later, I know not what 2020 holds for Shaw and the gang - but I know for sure it’s worth paying close attention. - C.L.
