Formed in 2012, Funeral Horse started attracting attention in the metal underground, first with their relentless touring and home made demos, and then a year later on the debut self-released album Savage Audio Demon. Listeners often commented on parallels to Black Flag (My War era) and early Sabbath with the band's stripped down, sludgy sound. After signing to Artificial Head Records, Funeral Horse let loose a series of albums that flexed their creative muscle with their exploration of styles and instruments but still retaining their unique style. The latest album, Psalms for the Mourning, perfectly captures the essence of everything Funeral Horse. It's an album that explores heaviness and ferocity without leaning on the typical traps of the stoner metal genre.
