Mountain Lakes is a British-Polish electronica/indie trio fronted by vocalist Joanna Cisowska, with Kuba Bujakowski on guitar, and Wayne Hood on bass. They came together in 2014 and released their debut E.P "Eyesore" which awakened comparisons with Portishead and Massive Attack. A performance at FAMA Festival in Poland led the judges to suggest Mountain Lakes would be a good fit for the iconic British record label, 4AD. A trio of singles followed in 2018, and these songs began to show the diversity of the bands’ sound. This trend is amplified with the release of a new four-track E.P called "I Dreamt I Saved You". The "I Dreamt I Saved You" E.P will be released in March 2020. The opening song "Lions" uses an adventurous song structure similar to Bohemian Rhapsody and includes field recordings from Chernobyl. Song two, "Slow Bloom" has a delicate beginning before developing into a colourful explosion. The band move into indie-rock territory with the third song, "Big Bad Wolf" but the experimental twist at the end is unique for the genre. The fourth and final song, "Paper Planes" combines acoustic and electronic styles reminiscent of later Radiohead works. These four songs have more variety than most albums, and the intriguing song structures remind the listener of how a dream unfolds. This brings us back to the title of the E.P — I Dreamt I Saved You — and the phenomena of dreams. We wonder - are dreams a reflection of the past or are they premonitions of the future?
