Costa Rican band Non Neutral has been mixing rock and rap for over a decade, drawing from styles such as rapcore and grunge and hip-hop. Non Neutral made themselves known locally with their first single and video, “Fire in My Hands”, released in December of 2012. Later they released two EPs, ‘King of the Who?’ (2014) and ‘Every Direction Is Forward’ (2016), plus several other singles. Band members Carlos Velásquez (vocals and guitar), Adrián Pauly (guitar), Esteban Zamora (bass), and Carlos Elizondo (drums) are no novices to the Costa Rican rock scene; they've all been playing for over a decade and bring their different backgrounds into Non Neutral's sound, which strikes a balance between a hard melodic rocking style and a lighter, more alternative side. This results in a sound that's intense and energetic but also catchy and accessible. Non Neutral has been playing live shows for several years, in multiple venues both in and out of the capital city of San José. Along the way, the band has pushed its sound forward, evolving and establishing its own musical style.
