In her decades long career, Molly Bancroft has effortlessly evolved from coffeehouse folksinger to innovative electronic auteur, accumulating a diverse and lengthy discography in the process. Regardless of genre, her sound is defined by deeply personal lyrics, evocative soundscapes, and a willingness to constantly reinvent herself. Molly was born in Portland, OR, and grew up with a musical family in Traverse City, MI. She was frequently exposed to jazz, bluegrass, and classical music, but it was her love of contemporary pop and R&B that led her to pursue a career in music. Relocating to Boston, she became a part of the city’s now legendary singer/songwriter circuit. After a period of performing solo, she formed the indie rock group Lift, which quickly began to flirt with mainstream success. The band toured with the Indigo Girls and garnered considerable buzz before Molly’s disillusionment with the music industry machine led her to seek new creative outlets. In the ensuing years, Molly found herself immersed in the EDM world. A chance collaboration with Gabriel and Dresden went to #1 on the Billboard Hot Club Charts, breathing new life into her career and introducing her to a long list of collaborators. She spent the ensuing years freely incorporating new styles from around the world into her sound and continuing to push boundaries.
