Egemen, also known as Ege, is a contemporary dervish who embarks on a journey to discover his own unique sound in world music while proudly representing his Turkish heritage. He skillfully blends various ethnic instruments such as the sitar, caglama, saz, santoor, ud, ngoni, kora, flutes, and more to create an enchanting and rejuvenating experience for his listeners. With a mastery of traditional Eastern ragas, he infuses his lively improvisations with beats, loops, and synths to further enhance the hypnotic atmosphere of his music. Based in San Francisco, Ege frequently performs in the Bay Area and is also a certified yoga teacher. His latest album Meditations on Shiva the great Indian sage Utpaladeva. It is perfect accompaniment for gentle/slow yoga or movement practice. Also great for listening while doing work, meditation or driving. His collaborations with Madhu Anziani are especially potent. Together, they are a dynamic musical duo, crafting mystical rock music that draws inspiration from sacred texts. Their music has a unique and mesmerizing quality, fueled by Madhu's singing and beatboxing skills, and Ege's expertise in playing various Eastern instruments. He also makes frequent appearances in DJ Drez's albums adding in sweet melodic lines to his spacious beats.
