Newfane began in 2013 as an offshoot of Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives, with members Chris Rigopulos and Greg Huang playing side gigs as an acoustic duo. The group was later solidified in 2014 by the addition of Alex Rigopulos (co-founder of Harmonix Music Systems) on drums. Greg LoPiccolo (from Dark Wheels and legendary Boston band Tribe) joined the band on bass in 2016, making immediate impact on the recording of their third EP "Wellness Center". The band's dark and melodic sound has themes of middle-age death and destruction, with grinding riffs, guitar solos, vocal harmonies, and offbeat rhythms. Fans may hear echoes of REM, Pixies, Sebadoh, and Pink Floyd. Newfane has released five EPs - most recently, The End of Times in 2019, including the single "Mariana Trench", which features a vocal cameo by international breakout recording artist Alicia Caillier. The single ("I Recognize") from the Wellness Center EP is in the video game Rock Band 4, and has been played on Boston radio stations. They frequently appear on the Camberville live music scene, with shows at local venues including Atwood's Tavern, The Lizard Lounge, Midway Cafe, PA's Lounge, the Plough & Stars, and Sally O'Briens.
