The last Honky Tonk in Chicago Today, has shuttered up its doors And I know Ol' Buck Owens would be happy That his sweetheart won't be found there anymore But all the bar flies have all been rendered homeless And all the cowboys are wandering the town And all the country bands have all gone down to Texis Where the decent Honky Tonks still can be found So where are all the Honkey Tonks in Chicago? Well my friend, the last one, just closed down today So I guess we'll head on down to the empty bottle Where they like Honky Tonk and pump the same The last honky tonk in Chicago Couldn't keep up with the times or so they say Well you can't blame not Pete 'bout that No you can't blame really much anybody I guess the taste of Chicago just has changed Now all the blues joints, are all now in the black And all the hiphop clubs have been bumpin' out the beats They got a garage of rock in just about every city block And all them Honky Tonkers are just shufflin' down the street 'Cause they closed up the Honky Tonks Locked all the joints And me and that Honkey Tonkey boots can't rip there anymore They closed up the Honky Tonks and threw away the key And I can't find anybody to do the two-step with me Cryin' shame
