They answered the calling, from the motherland it came

The senseless loss of life began, no time for men to mourn
As the shells rained down upon them, our boys became our men

The Turks, well, they were waiting, machine guns lined the neck
For the wrong beach we had landed, men shot down from the decks
The trenches were our hell-hole, and it made no sense at all
Of all the Godforsaken places, this the greatest of all
