In vain man tried to enter heaven, for a door could not be found
Heavens walls were great and high, all inside were safe and sound
But God, who so loved mankind, who He'd made and given breath
Knew that to redeem them the price to pay was death
The search was made to find someone who would take this dreadful chore
But only one, Gods only Son, could be Heavens only door
The angels knew, once He was gone, a song would not be sung
But a door to Heaven is of no use unless on Earth it's hung
A door was hung at Calvary, it's standing open wide
Eternal life is waiting for all who step inside
What has become Earth's greatest gain was Heaven's greatest loss

He entered this world through a virgins womb and He felt our pain and strife
