The complete Construkction of Light ♪ I've explained elsewhere about the process involved in the recreation Of The Construkction of Light album with the new drumming by Pat Mastelotto And mixing by Bill Rieflin's production partner, Don Gunn The original version of the album is only new King Crimson recording On which I've not worked since I first met Robert Fripp in 1989 When it was released in early 2000 I was in Seattle trying to bring our own version of sanity To the wild west of music downloads In the early days of Napster and MP3.com Which led in part to the DGM Live website This meant that I was unfamiliar with much of the original source material for the album Including the studio version of the title track, The Construkction of Light The instrumental part of which remains a regular feature of setlists to this day With Tony Levin now playing what he's described As one of the best touch guitar bass parts ever written When I first listened to the proposed new studio mixes Near the end, I heard the lyric, "That a man might improvise the construction of light" It sounded unfamiliar, so I checked the original album And it's not there Robert Fripp and Alex Mundy who did the editing in 2000 Had evidently removed the last two vocal lines We honoured that decision and did exactly the same edit For the current re-issue and for the Heaven & Earth boxset But the version including those lines, offers another interesting outtake for this series So here it is, the complete studio recording of The Construkction of Light
