Chid all the lake's bright breathing down

From her deep eyes of brown
Ashamed of nothing, we ran
Across the fields of afternoon
Swam at night in pools
Like children under the moon
The memory of her sweet caress never fades
Together in defiance of all the world
Drowned in the night's dark splendour of her eyes
While we watched the night's demise
