Lo, how a rose e'er blooming
From tender stem hath sprung!
Of Jesse's lineage coming
As men of old have sung

When half-spent was the night
Isaiah 'twas foretold it
The rose I have in mind
With Mary we behold it
The virgin mother kind
To show God's love aright
She bore to men a savior

Proclaimed by angels bright
How Christ, the lord of glory
Was born on earth this night
To Bethlehem they sped
And in the manger, found him
As angel herald said
Oh, savior, child of Mary
Who felt our human woe

Who dost our weakness know
Bring us, at length, we pray
To the bright courts of heaven
And to,to the endless day!
