Kyphose - Drowning Commentary текст песни

Исполнитель: Kyphose

альбом: Drowning

So, Drowning
This song is a lot along the same lines as Water Drops was
Since I began singing here, it's been a wonderful outlet for my emotions
Instead of bottling them up, I'm able to vocalize them now
And I did a lot of that in Water Drops, but Water Drops more spoke to the thoughts and
The voice inside my head
And Water Drops addressed it in a different way
I used a very low tone with that song
Drowning, I wanted to go to the opposite end of the spectrum
And take a whack at singing
In a higher pitch, kind of my higher tone that I could reach
And I remember the idea first struck me for Drowning here
When I was up in my kitchen, I was making some food and it was a really stressful day
And I go through these cycles of, I don't know if you'd even call it depression, but
Sadness, I guess, and overwhelmed feelings, overwhelming feelings that I get
And while I was up in my kitchen, it was, like I say, a stressful day, and I was just
Feeling super overwhelmed
I felt like I was just drowning in tasks to be done and all sorts of things
And while I was up there, the thought just struck me that I just felt like I couldn't
Do this that day
It seems to be a seasonal thing, and just every once in a while I'll get like this
Where I just feel like a complete failure
And I was feeling like this that day, and so I decided, I pulled out my phone and kind
Of recorded a little melody of the words I was feeling
And the melody just kind of came out of me, and what I wrote up in my kitchen, or what
I kind of sang into my little microphone on my phone here, was the chorus for Drowning
This is the first time I've ever written a song from the chorus out
I typically begin a song at the very beginning
And build the verse into a chorus and so on
But this song, the chorus came to me, and that was when I was up in the kitchen there
It all just kind of came to me
I ran downstairs a couple hours later, and I spent the rest of the night on my computer
Here, writing things down, getting the lyrics down
And establishing a rhythm and a melody for Water Drops
And it just kind of came together
And it's been one of my favorite songs to work on so far
But Water Drops, or not Water Drops, but Drowning here
Iit addresses, like I was saying there
A lot of the emotions that I get from time to time of being overwhelmed and stressed
Out, which, I mean, everybody goes through
But like I say, I never had an outlet before to localize these emotions
I would typically just bury them down, and so it's been really alleviating and calming
To be able to use music as this outlet
And Drowning has probably been one of the most
I don't even know how to say it, I don't
Know how to say it
It's been such a nice way to dump my emotions into something productive
And right at the start of the song there, I really loved, from the chorus line, I just
Kind of used a little faded-away vocal there, but it just says
Lend me your hand, I'm drowning
Drowning talks a lot about that overwhelming feeling that comes from time to time, and
I mention thoughts of failure
I mention the feel of unwelcome thoughts and feelings that I just don't want to have
And the whole song is just basically about that
And Drowning kind of, like I say
Runs along some of the same lines that Water Drops does
Where the first verse, one of my favorite parts, is the lyrics go
Who's in here
No one else that I see
It's just me and my head and this dread that consumes my being
And that was one of the lines that really just kind of came out when I was writing the
Verse and just describes so much how I feel
Like I say, I get in my head and these feelings take over and there's no one else there
It's just me and my head
It's me and my dread
It's me stressing myself out
And I'm learning this along my journey of life that I'm the solution to my own problems
And I think that's where having this music has been really a great way for me to kind
Of help take control
I guess, of these emotions and help kind of simmer them down and control
Them so they can't control me
And that's pretty much what drowning is all about
