Of all this discord, rage and hatred
When really all we need is a little more love
We need a little more silence and little less noise
A little more joy and not so many toys
We need a little more grace and a lot less lies
A little more sway over our appetites
And it's hard to know how long we can last
And so hard to hear while all this wind is rushing past
And it's so hard to see when we're blinded by the glare
Of all all this artifice and glimmer
When what we really need is a little more love
And if we satisfy all our avarice and lust
What's the use? when we go we can't take it with us.
We need a little more soul and little less sod
A little more honor and a little less fraud
We need a little more kindness and less excess
A little less curse and a little more bless
It's so easy to hoard, is it so hard to share?
And it's hard to hear with all this screaming everywhere
And it's harder to see when we're blinded by the glare
Of these fraudulent prophets
Who cajoled and sold and bought us
With the trinkets they have brought us
When all we really need
Is a little more love
