Grandma's got a book and its got pictures of relations
It shows her when she was a little girl
And every single page is filled with photographs and faces
Of people who were here before I came into the world
And every faded picture has a story it could tell
And I know I would have loved them if I could have known them well
When Grandma opens up her book of memories
These strangers all begin to look like friends to me
I can see where I've come from and where I belong
And where I got the color of my hair
And I won't be afraid when I follow them home
'Cause I've got friends already there.
Every now and then I sit and wonder if they're watching
I wonder if they like the things they see
And I hope Grandpa knows his music is still living
I hope someday he's gonna get to hear me sing
Does he know that I can't whistle
That I stand just like my Dad
How I hope he's proud of me
When I see him at last
When Grandma opens up her book of memories
These strangers all begin to look like friends to me
I can see where I've come from and where I belong
And where I got the color of my hair
And I won't be afraid when I follow them home
'Cause I've got friends already there
No I won't be afraid when I follow them home
'Cause it looks like I've got friends already there
It shows her when she was a little girl
And every single page is filled with photographs and faces
Of people who were here before I came into the world
And every faded picture has a story it could tell
