Suddenly there was a heavy explosion.
The ground heived.
I looked up and saw a metallic spider.
A monstrous tripod, higher than the tallest steeple.
The walking engine of glittering metal, emitting indefinate power, wich roared like thunder.
Overhead, a huge funnel.
And I realized with horror that I had seen this aweful thing before.
The ghostly, terrible, heatray.
Fire.
Roared, like thunder.
Fire.
