Rendered lame
Through decades of slumber
Decaying to filth
In darkness I lumber
Wretched light
In hopeless abandon
Thrown to the depths
The soul of a phantom
Piercing the skin with a blade
Just to see if this heart still beats
Pressed to the wrist once again
And sing a bittersweet melody
No one leaves this world unscarred
For we are tethered to the stars
Torn and scattered in the wake
Of crises that have left us marred
Buried in apathy
A ghost in a cage
Stripped of all feeling
But sadness and rage
Grave is the answer
The end of all trials
Turning the pages
Of a life in exile
Tighten the rope on the neck
A swift kick to the chair
Could wash away my regrets
And it's not like I care when
No one leaves this world alive
For we are bound by earthly ties
To brew and toil on this soil
Scraped and cut by spades and knives
Prisoner in this oaken chamber, lacquered in varnish and ebony teintures
Ivory linings adorn my tomb from which the roses lie and bloom
Turned to dust a hollowing shell, under the court of iron bells
Lying beneath a lonely grave, to suffer the fate of one depraved
When the weight of a million dreams comes crashing down on you
And you start to feel as though you've been misled
Then you'll know the time has come for you to go
The light shines at the end of the tunnel, but you would rather be dead
Nothing remains but memories to family friends and enemies
But they as well are perishable, so why delay the inevitable
Ashes to ashes so they say, and all my ills are blown away
Far too late for apology with all the sorrow that follows me

Banished have I been from this world
Sent beyond the grave to find my peace
Three steps taken forth, beyond the gates
Begging for this empty life to cease
