Kyrie eleison! Desiring with the most heartfelt anxiety that the Catholic faith Should increase and flourish everywhere, And that all heretical depravity should be driven far from the Frontiers and bournes of the faithful, we very gladly proclaim And even restate those particular means and methods whereby our Pious desire may obtain its wished effect. Christe elision! It has lately come to our ears that many persons, Unmindful of their own salvation and straying from the Catholic faith, have abandoned themselves to Devils. And at the instigation of the enemy of mankind, They do not shrink from committing the foulest abominations To the deadly peril of their own souls, whereby the outrage the Divine Majesty and are a cause of scandal and danger. Kyrie elision! We, being wholly desirous of removing all obstacles by which the Good works of the Inquisitors may be let, As also of applying remedies to prevent the disease of heresy from Diffusing their poison to the destruction of innocent souls, We decree that the aforesaid Inquisitors be empowered to proceed With the just correction, imprisonment, and punishment of any persons Without hinderance, in every way. (Papal Bull of Pope Innocent VIII - Dec. 9th, 1484) Kyrie eleison! Christe eleison! Kyrie eleison!
